On the Sleeping Beauty DVD it explains what she is. She was based on a raven originally but can transform into a dragon. Gaston was a fierce hunter that wanted to slay the Beast. The Queen of Hearts is all part of Alice's imagination and in one of the books, the cards are floating down like leaves. Anita and Cruella de Vil worked together in the fur industry.
