Totall recall dream or reality? Was just watching total recall on telly and love the film but always have?

wondered if it was all supposed to be in dougs head the whole tine and he was just sleeping in the recall chair so looked on line and apparently the special edition dvd the director and arnie say it was all a dream and yeah alot of things say it could be but if it is all supposed to feel real and was a dream what about when he gets home and his wife is not dead and he hasnt shot her in the head wouldnt this smash the whole the whole fake memory idea and the fact that they make his wife a complete cow that is actually married to someone else in the agency perhaps someoneelse has the special edition with the voice overs that can finally lay this to rest for me
