How can I fix my WoW lag?
I'm getting random lag spikes in WoW. I used Blizzard's "infallible" trouble shooting, only to reach a dead-end after the tracert section (which in my head seemed to be saying, "After trying all the previous steps, run a tracert to see what a ******* piece of **** your connection is, because it's TOTALLY not our problem"). The tracert indicated everything was all good on my end. No other programs lag. I'm on a mac which is widely considered mostly spyware/virus proof - but I downloaded Blizzard recommended spyware programs anyways - again to no avail. No spyware. I don't watch , and WoW is the only thing I've downloaded in the last few months. I turned off "network optimization" and have scoured the web for other things in the in-game options that could help. Asking this question feels ogous to asking God to make me taller or something like that, because unless there is something mystical I'm missing, it just seems like something on Blizzard's end doesn't like me and I'm just stuck with this problem. Also, I'm not running other programs in the background. Honestly, I've tried every damn thing imaginable and google-able that I can do on my end. I guess I'm just hoping someone knows of an ominous "Option X" to try. My connection speed is great, much better than what it was when I used to run WoW at another location about 2-3 years ago, at which time I never experienced anything like this. The most frustrating part is how incredibly random it is. Sometimes, the game runs fine, and other times, it takes me 10 seconds to loot anything, NPCs don't appear, and I'll get "you have been disconnected" messages every 5-10 minutes. It's driving me batshit insane, as you might be able to tell from the general tone of my question.
